Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 14, 2026

KunYu (ky-gis.com) is an online GIS toolbox. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Controller

KunYu (ky-gis.com) is the data controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions about how your data is processed, you can contact us at kunyu926@hotmail.com

Legal Basis for Processing

We process data based on the following legal grounds under the GDPR:

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising). You can withdraw consent at any time through our cookie settings.
  • Legitimate Interest — for essential site functionality, security, and fraud prevention.
  • Contract — when processing is necessary to provide the services you request.

Data Processing

All geographic data processing (coordinate conversion, format conversion, spatial analysis, etc.) is performed entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device. We do not upload, store, or have access to any data you process using our tools.

Geocoding & External API Requests

Our Geocoding tool sends address or coordinate queries to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim API (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) to perform address lookups. This means the addresses or coordinates you enter in the Geocoding tool are transmitted to OpenStreetMap servers. This is the only tool that sends user-entered data to an external service. The data is processed according to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy. We do not store your geocoding queries.

Personal Information

We do not require user registration and do not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers through our tools.

Cookies & Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may set cookies on your device:

  • Google Analytics 4 — to understand how visitors use our site. We collect standard analytics data (page views, traffic sources, device types, browser type, operating system, screen resolution, language preference) as well as tool usage behavior (which tools you use, file format and size when uploading files, reading depth on blog posts, and anonymized error diagnostics). Your IP address is not stored by Google Analytics 4. Data is retained for 14 months. Google may process this data on servers located in the United States.
  • Google AdSense — to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google may collect and process data about your browsing behavior for ad personalization.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also manage cookie preferences in your browser settings. For users in the EU/EEA, non-essential cookies are only activated after you provide consent.

Feedback Forms

We use Tally.so to collect user feedback. When you submit feedback, any information you provide (such as your message content and optional email address) is processed by Tally.so according to their privacy policy. We use this data solely to improve our services.

Map Tiles

Our map tools load map tiles from third-party tile servers. These requests are made directly from your browser and are subject to the respective providers' privacy policies.

International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Tally.so) may transfer and process your data in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States. These transfers are carried out in compliance with applicable data protection laws, using Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other appropriate safeguards.

Data Retention

We retain analytics data for a maximum of 14 months. Feedback submitted through Tally.so is retained as long as necessary to improve our services. We do not retain any geographic data you process using our tools, as it is never transmitted to our servers.

Your Rights

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights under the GDPR regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification — you can request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Erasure — you can request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to Restriction — you can request that we limit how we process your data.
  • Right to Data Portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object — you can object to the processing of your personal data for certain purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address listed below. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 16 (or 13 in countries where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice.
